About Me

My name is Emily, I am a piano teacher and classroom music teacher in British Columbia, Canada.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and I’m currently working on my Master’s Degree in Education. I also hold training in the Orff Schulwerk approach.

One of my most valuable teaching experiences was teaching core Kindergarten and 1st grade, which helped me imagine new ideas for making kid’s piano lessons more developmentally appropriate. It was through this experience that the piano teacher in me noticed a need for more play-based resources available to piano teachers.

What I Believe In

In 2022 I launched Ms Emily Music. I strive to create resources that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and easy for teachers to use. Many of the resources and tips I share are tailored towards teachers of the critical ages of 3-6. However, you will find that a lot of what I share can be used for upper elementary or middle school aged children as well.
